REBUILD BUNDABERG
HELPING ORDINARY PEOPLE IN AN EXTRA-ORDINARY WAY
Queensland, AUSTRALIA
How Did This Fundraising Effort Come About
Upon hearing of the devastation in Bundaberg, a group of 8 Orange County (California) residents assembled for a casual meeting to discuss ways in which they could contribute to the people of Bundaberg. Rather than donating to an organization already in existence, they decided to start their own organization enabling them to direct funds to exactly where it is needed and to make a difference to a smaller group of people.
The 8 people in this group are everyday people, no different from anyone else except for a desire to make a difference in the world.
One of the members of this group is Josh Marris, a golf professional from Australia who grew up in Bundaberg and currently has family and friends still living in Bundaberg. Fortunately all of their homes were safe and unaffected by flood waters, however his aunt and uncle's local business was severely damaged losing most of their office equipment and manufacturing materials.
Our Purpose
We want to make a difference for the families affected by this tragedy. Through the stories shared on this website, and other media, we seek to find families in crisis who need assistance in a way that government funding and other fundraising efforts cannot achieve. An example of this would be to rebuild a house destroyed by the flood that a family once called Home.
Our Committment
We want to see as much, if not all of the funds donated to go to the people of Bundaberg. In order to achieve this, no wages or salaries will be paid to the people running the organization. These people offer their services at no charge meaning that the cost to run the organization are minimal, unlike some of the major fundraising organizations.
The Organization
The non-profit organization has not yet been established due to the initial cost to set up. Once the initial funds are raised, the non-profit organization will be established in California, USA, and run by the people who created it.
The Numbers:
If $1 million dollars was
distributed only to Bundaberg residents left homeless during the flood, each person would receive
only $133.
