Helping a City Rebuild After Devastation

In January 2013, the city of Bundaberg was devastated with its worst flood on record, leaving thousands of residents homeless and living in shelters. With a population of just under 100,000 people, more than 200 homes have been destroyed and 7,500 people stranded as a result. Many towns in the state of Queensland were flooded during this time, however Bundaberg was the hardest hit.

A team of eight California residents have joined forces to help make a difference for those who really need it. By making a donation through this website, you will be contributing to the rebuilding efforts of the residents of Bundaberg; helping families to rebuild their homes and get their lives back in order.

Bundaberg was described as being like a "war zone" after the waters receded. What was left behind looked like a scene out of a movie. Some houses were completely washed away while others sunk into the saturated ground, roads and other structures were destroyed and silt and debris littered the areas that were flooded.

The clean-up has begun, but it is going to take years for the city to get back to where it was.

If you are a Bundaberg resident affected by this flood and are in need of assistance, we want to hear from you. Make sure to visit the STORIES page to let us know about your struggle.
